Pride posters across Europe: Martin Firrell’s Acts of Pride closes Pride season in Manchester
As Pride celebrations draw to a close this summer, Manchester Pride marks the final stop for Acts of Pride, a striking series of digital artworks by celebrated British public artist Martin Firrell.
The series, which launched earlier this summer, has travelled across 12 cities in Europe, spotlighting Pride 2025 at transport hubs and busy public spaces in iconic city centre locations from Amsterdam and Antwerp to Dublin, Oslo, Riga, and Stockholm.
Titled Acts of Pride, the series highlights the value of visibility, inclusion, and unity for LGBTQIA+ communities, serving as apowerful reminder of the importance of solidarity and resistance in the face ofrising hostility.
“These are challenging times for LGBTQIA+ communities all over the world. Rights are being questioned, reduced, or withdrawn. Coming together, in difficult times, is an act of resistance, and these works reflect that simple principle,” Firrell explains.
Using bold, typographic statements, the artwork transforms public spaces into a platform for equality, inclusion, and self-expression. The campaign also explicitly affirms trans rights, which Firrell says are “being played with for political ends,” while creating space for identities that don’t fit the usual definitions.
This campaign was made possible through a continued partnership with Bauer Media Outdoor(formerly Clear Channel), one of Europe’s largest Out of Home media owners, known for supporting creative and socially conscious public art. Firrell and Bauer Media Outdoor previously collaborated on the acclaimed All Varieties campaign, celebrating Pride 2024, which ran across their network last summer.
Martin Firrell said: "What could be more important than trying to say something that makes the world fairer? The brilliant partnership with Bauer Media Outdoor brings my public art messages of tolerance and hope into the real world, where they can make a difference.”
Martin Corke, UK Chief Marketing Officer & EU Marketing Lead at Bauer Media Outdoor, said: “We believe public space should be inclusive, expressive, and reflective of the communities it serves. Our continued partnerships with Martin allow us to use our network to make space for stories and identities that need to be seen and heard, especially at a time when those rights are under pressure.”
Acts of Pride will run throughout Pride season, with visibility on Bauer Media Outdoor’s digital screens in city centres, transport hubs and iconic locations. In a media landscape often dominated by commercial messages, “Acts of Pride” offers a striking alternative: public art with a purpose.
