Clear Channel takes over hundred-million contract - historic shift in Linköping.
It is now clear that Clear Channel has won the prestigious contract with Linköping Municipality, thereby significantly strengthening its classic and digital presence in Sweden's fifth largest city. Clear Channel's entry into Linköping marks the beginning of a paradigm shift where the city's advertising contract now gets a new supplier after more than 30 years in JCDecaux's hands.
- "I am incredibly proud to take over the contract with Linköping Municipality, which is a key contract for classic and digital outdoor advertising in Sweden's largest cities. We have a common ambition to greatly modernise both utilities and the advertising offer, and this work will begin as early as spring 2025," says Claes Kugelberg, CEO of Clear Channel.
The agreement is one of the country's largest outdoor advertising agreements and includes around 350 classic and digital advertising spaces, 140 bus shelters and seven state-of-the-art public toilets. The contract runs until the end of the 2030s.
We are looking forward to the future cooperation with Clear Channel, which includes public transport weather shelters, free-standing advertising carriers and accessible toilets. During the spring, the existing weather shelters will be dismantled and then the roll-out of the new weather shelters will begin," says Ulf Johansson-Lorin, operations strategist at Linköping Municipality.
2024 has been exceptionally eventful for Clear Channel, where the contract win in Linköping is one in a series of new and renewed contracts. During the year, Clear Channel has, among other things, secured SL's major advertising agreement covering 250 stations in the capital region, 21 shopping centres and retail locations throughout the country, as well as an important extension with Luleå municipality until 2040.
- We have worked intensively to strengthen our national outdoor offering, with broad geographical coverage and visibility in all advertising environments, securing the outdoor media's position in the media market - now and in the future. With a strong 2024 behind us, we have great ambitions to continue this work in 2025," says Mimmi Sandström, Development & Operations Director Clear Channel
