Outdoor is the big media winner in new ESG report
A recent survey conducted by Outsmart and Legacy, shows that outdoor has good ESG metrics compared to TV, press and online - scoring highest in the environmental and social categories.
ESG (Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance) is a way of measuring a range of ethical categories that help companies achieve their corporate responsibility goals. ESG measurements can help influence investment decisions, where companies with high scores outperform those with low scores. The test is divided into four categories: Environment, Community, Employees and Governance.
investors are flexing their ESG muscles, brands are making big commitments, and their media investments play an important role. Companies need good data on how their media choices impact the world - Business strategist and author, Andrew Winston
Outdoor advertising performs remarkably well in the ESG metrics, especially in the environmental and social category. The environment category addresses companies' interactions with the environment, including use of natural resources and impact on ecosystems. The community category reflects companies' commitment to both the local and global community, including volunteering and charitable donations.
As Andrew Winston says, ESG is growing in importance as an important factor when choosing partners in the media industry. The outdoor channel's strong performance in these tests emphasises Bauer Media Outdoor's focus on sustainability and social responsibility. Dennis Højland Nyegaard, CEO of Bauer Media Outdoor, is not surprised that the channel comes out so strongly in this report and believes that it helps to strengthen Bauer Media Outdoor's position as a responsible and attractive partner for advertisers.
"ESG metrics are an important tool to show how Bauer Media Outdoor is committed to sustainability and social responsibility. We believe that the media of the future must be as attractive to advertisers as it is sustainable and good for society. This measurement is a clear result of our continuous efforts to reduce our environmental impact and positively influence the society we are part of." - Dennis Højland Nyegaard
