The year 2023 - An award-winning year!

The outdoor year 2023 is coming to an end, it's time to ring in Christmas and welcome a new year. The year turned out to be an award-winning year for Clear Channel (now: Bauer Media Outdoor) and the outdoor channel, and we're going to take a closer look at the campaigns that won awards over the past year.

Media campaign of the year 2023

Together with Podimo, Clear Channel won "Media Campaign of the Year" at the Media Conference 2023 with the campaign "From sound shower to live podcast festival".

In order to build awareness in competition with larger and more established players, as well as reach a new audience and delight existing fans, they looked at the possibility of adding sound to advertising in an engaging way. This was creatively solved in the ideation process between Clear Channel, Podimo and the agency, where the idea of a sound shower attached to our posters with live sound for interaction with the audience was born. For maximum effect, a national campaign with adshels was run first, and reinforced the main campaign in Oslo during the summer with adshels and advertising inside public transport.

Gold in the European Excellence Awards

Storebrand won gold together with Per Høj in the Finance category for their "Bed Bug Border Control" in Clear Channel's surfaces.

After an extreme spread of bed bugs in Europe, Storebrand introduced bed bug control at Oslo Airport in the summer of 2023. Here, travellers had the opportunity to have their luggage inspected by Storebrand's bed bug expert - the dog "Miss". With 42% awareness in Norway, the campaign was a hit both for Storebrand's ambitious growth targets, but also for the travellers at Oslo Airport.

Silver in the Epica Awards

IKEA won silver in the Epica Awards together with TRY, for their campaign "The Bästis Billboard" which ran on Clear Channel's surfaces on 17 May 2023.

IKEA wanted to help festive travellers in Oslo remove dust and lint from bunad and suits, and rolled out a 6 metre long and 2 metre high outdoor lint brush in collaboration with TRY and Clear Channel. At Majorstuen metro station, everyone had the opportunity to roll themselves clean of lint and dust with Bästi's large-format lint brush, and the lint brush was used frequently throughout the day.

Finalist in The Drum Awards

Clear Channel's "Metro Meditation" campaign was a finalist in The Drum Awards, in the Social Purpose category: OOH.

The campaign ran on Clear Channel's sites in Norway, Sweden and Denmark in January this year. At all metro stations in Scandinavia, mindfulness exercises were shown as an initiative to reduce stress and anxiety and increase the presence of millions of Scandinavians. Research shows that simple breathing exercises can counteract the negative processes in the body, and as an extension of this, Clear Channel developed the "Metro Meditation" campaign to make mindfulness exercises accessible to people. The campaign was also linked to a real-time algorithm, where a number of trigger words related to stress, anxiety and irritation were set up. As the use of these words increased in Google searches, the campaign was played more frequently.
