Outdoor advertising to reach young people with mental health challenges

Every day, 126 people in Norway are refused mental health care because their problems are not considered serious enough. In collaboration with Bauer Media Outdoor, Ung Samtale will use outdoor advertising to reach young mentally ill people with an offer of free counselling - without waiting time or referral.

The campaign is specifically aimed at young people who often fall outside the public health system, giving them an easy and accessible route to the help they need. Ung Samtale offers free counselling to young people and young adults, without the need for a referral or place of residence.

With the help of Bauer Media Outdoor, they have launched a campaign to increase the visibility of the service throughout Norway. Specialist manager Terje Reed emphasises that it is now more important than ever to invest in low-threshold measures that can quickly help prevent mental health problems from escalating.

"By offering free, easily accessible mental health counselling, we give young people who feel on the edge an opportunity to talk about their challenges, gain new perspectives and regain faith in themselves and their possibilities.

- Terje Reed, Programme Manager at Ung Samtale

Every day, 126 people are refused mental health care because their challenges are not considered serious enough. This is the backdrop for the campaign. Terje Reed is grateful for the help in getting this important message out so that more young people have the opportunity to take advantage of Ung Samtale's free help programme.

"Bauer Media Outdoor's support is invaluable to us. As a small organisation with limited resources, the partnership gives us a visibility we could never have achieved on our own.

- Terje Reed

High visibility - great responsibility

Bauer Media Outdoor has advertising spaces all over the country, and every week they reach more than 65 per cent of Norwegians - from Kirkenes to Kristiansand. Dennis Højland Nyegaard explains that outdoor advertising is particularly popular among young people.

"We know that our surfaces attract a lot of attention, and with that comes great responsibility. We are therefore keen to use our platform in a way that makes a positive contribution to the society in which we operate. We believe that Ung Samtale is doing an important job, and we are therefore proud to contribute to their offer reaching those who need it.

- Dennis Højland Nyegaard, CEO of Bauer Media Outdoor
