New advertising agreement will benefit the public
Viken kollektivterminaler signs a huge advertising agreement with Clear Channel (now: Bauer Media Outdoor) worth over NOK 100 million. The residents of Viken come out as the contract's big winners.
all revenue from advertising sales is reinvested in its entirety in the public transport infrastructure we manage. This is an example of supplementary financing, which allows us to develop the offer to public transport travellers at a high pace, without burdening the public purse more than necessary. This is an agreement that really benefits our citizens. - jafar Altememy, CEO. Viken public transport terminals FKF
Clear Channel has held the contract for the past 20 years. After a tender competition, it became clear that the long, good and fruitful cooperation will continue. The newly signed contract is built on a unique model, where all commercial revenues to the county council are earmarked for upgrading bus stops and public transport infrastructure.
- "This year and next year, we will carry out an extensive establishment and expansion programme, with a total of approximately 320 advertising spaces. The further goal is 450-500 panels during the contract period. The advertising panels will be placed at terminals and bus stops along county roads," explains Altememy.
"The extensive expansion of advertising space will considerably strengthen coverage in the county. The focus is on cities and towns such as Asker, Sandvika and Ski, as well as the busiest areas in Romerike and Follo. In addition, the expansion will cover all bus and ferry terminals with analogue and digital advertising panels in the most central areas of Akershus.
- The rapid establishment of new advertising spaces will result in a significant increase in revenue, providing better conditions for travellers. We hope this will help to make public transport in our county even more attractive in the years to come," says Altememy.

Increased range
For Nils Li, Head of Establishment at Clear Channel, this is an important and strategic opportunity to reach the more than 600,000 people living in Akershus. "The new contract will increase the reach of Norway's largest outdoor company.
- Most of these locations have little or no outdoor coverage today. With a large part of Oslo's labour force living around Akershus, it means a big boost in offering much-needed coverage and frequency from work in Oslo all the way home," says Nils Li.
In addition to expanding into new advertising areas, a significant number of digital advertising screens are being installed at many terminals.
"Digitally, we can now for the first time move out into rural areas through central bus and ferry terminals. Digital screens have previously been reserved for shopping centres, train and metro stations. This means a long-awaited quality boost for our customers." - Nils Li, Head of Establishment at Clear Channel
