Wins major new contract with Rogaland County Council

Clear Channel (now: Bauer Media Outdoor) has won the advertising rights for Rogaland County Council, becoming a key player in a pioneering project that is redefining public transport in Norway. This contract reinforces Clear Channel's already solid national coverage.

The Nord-Jæren Busway is at the heart of the deal - a visionary project that, when completed, will be Europe's longest busway. With 50 kilometres of dedicated routes between Sandnes, Sola and Stavanger, this impressive investment will transform the everyday lives of thousands of residents. The aim is not only to reduce car traffic, but to revolutionise the way people travel in the region.

the North Jæren busway is redefining public transport in Norway. This is not just a busway; it's a promise of a greener future, a transport route that carries the region towards a new era, where public transport and sustainability take centre stage. We are proud to be a contributor to this important project.
- Nils Li, Development & Operations Director at Clear Channel.

A key part of the competition was the supplier's customised design of the 165 bus shelters along the Busway, which makes the contract an important milestone for public transport's visual expression and outdoor advertising.

- "It is gratifying that our architectural proposals have been so well received. The design combines aesthetics and functionality, strengthens the visual expression of the public transport network and meets the expectations of a design-conscious audience. We look forward to creating a vibrant and modern urban experience where innovative advertising and public transport merge, with aesthetics and accessibility in focus," says Nils Li.

Strategically important contract

The agreement covers the establishment of 165 design shelters as well as operational responsibility and advertising sales for a total of 600 shelters along the county road network in Rogaland. With estimated advertising revenues of more than NOK 1 billion over the 15-year contract period, this is one of the outdoor channel's largest and most comprehensive contracts. Clear Channel thus becomes the largest outdoor player in Western Norway and strengthens its position as Norway's leading coverage provider.

"The agreement with Rogaland County Council will definitely strengthen our advertising offering in the region significantly. With this contract in our portfolio, we will have strong coverage from South Jæren all the way up to Haugalandet.
- Nils Li

The contract also includes a political decision on a three-year trial period for digital advertising along the entire Busway.

- "This gives both us and our advertisers valuable access to an attractive target group with strong purchasing power," says Li.

The busway is already under construction and will be completed during the summer of 2026. Per Ove Stokkeland of Rogaland County Council is looking forward to the co-operation.

"Clear Channel submitted a very good bid in the competition, and the specially developed shelters are distinctive and unique to Bussveien. We have a positive impression of Clear Channel as a supplier and partner, and we look forward to a good collaboration with them in the coming years.
- Per Ove Stokkeland, Rogaland County Council
