Securing a strong digital presence throughout Norway
The Olav Thon Group and Clear Channel (now: Bauer Media Outdoor) sign an advertising contract worth almost NOK 2 billion. "This is an important contract for our digital presence throughout the country," says Dennis Højland Nyegaard, Country Manager at Clear Channel.
The newly signed agreement applies to all Thon and Amfi shopping centres in the country. In total, it amounts to a presence in more than 80 shopping centres throughout Norway on 382 digital screens and 584 classic analogue surfaces.
"We are very proud to have secured the largest digital contract in Norway. It gives us strong digital coverage from north to south. Both in small towns, in cities and in the capital. Through this contract, we reach "the whole" of Norway.
- Dennis Højland Nyegaard
The Olav Thon Group owns or manages 15 of the 20 largest shopping centres in the country. In 2022, the Olav Thon Group's shopping centres had a turnover of approximately NOK 75 billion.
- "For advertisers, this is an important arena to be visible in. Here they can get in touch with the consumer close to the moment of purchase, so that they choose to go into their store or pick their product from the shelf," explains Højland Nyegaard.
Fruitful collaboration
The Olav Thon Group and Clear Channel have been partners since 2008. Director of the shopping centre division, Thomas E. Rønning, is very pleased that the parties have agreed to continue the good cooperation.
"The Olav Thon Group is pleased to have entered into a long-term agreement with Clear Channel to provide our shopping centres with commercial advertising space. We have had a good partnership with Clear Channel for a number of years and look forward to continuing the good co-operation.

The Olav Thon Group has great faith in the outdoor market and is not surprised by the strong growth that the market has experienced in recent years.
- "We believe that our agreement will help to strengthen the market further, and that more advertisers will realise that our arena gives them increased reach and closer contact with their customers. This is increasingly important in a media market that is becoming more fragmented," says Rønning.
Developing and expanding
The agreement between the Olav Thon Group and Clear Channel is one of the industry's most lucrative deals, and it is set to get bigger during the new contract period. In the time ahead, Clear Channel will develop and expand its digital offering.
- The agreement triggers significant investments and provides very good commercial development of advertising media on the Olav Thon Group's properties. Both at the start of the contract and over the next few years. "We are very pleased that Clear Channel has chosen to invest in the Olav Thon Group's shopping centres. This shows that our centres are an attractive advertising arena for Clear Channel's customers," says Rønning.
